Futures Without Violence: “Strategies to Advance Greater Elder Safety” (STAGES) 2023 Convening is happening this June in Washington, DC.
About the Convening
The aim of STAGES 2023 is to explore new and emerging practices for developing community responses to elder abuse that confront ageism, build connections for older adults, promote healthy relationships, prevent financial exploitation and co-occurring forms of abuse, build up institutional supports, and create pathways to restorative and elder survivor-defined justice outside of the criminal legal system.
There will be great sessions in each of the following tracks: restorative justice, economic justice, and community partnerships, including a session facilitated by NCALL with NCALL Director, Kristin Burki, and NCALL Consultant, LaTrice Buck. They will be presenting on “Collaborating for Justice for Older African Americans: Key Strategies for Equitable Partnerships with Culturally-Specific Organizations.” You can view the basic convening agenda, HERE.
Who should attend?
Community-based advocacy groups, elder justice coalitions, older adult service providers, culturally-specific programs, professionals, health care, and other thought leaders in the elder abuse field, community volunteers working with elders, tribal organizations, domestic and sexual violence programs, senior community centers, restorative justice practitioners, mediators, social workers, and other allied fields such as racial justice, economic justice, and public health.
