End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin and the National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL) are excited to announce that Kristin Burki joined our staff on May 10 as the new NCALL Director. This role builds on Kristin’s social work career at the direct practice, organizational leadership, and systems levels focused on effective responses to abuse across the lifespan. These experiences have resulted in a deep commitment to addressing the interconnection of services, community, and system factors that are tied to the safety, justice, and healing of older survivors.
Kristin’s introduction to advocacy started as an AmeriCorps member part of a statewide team of gender-based violence advocates and community educators in Oregon. After moving to Madison, WI in 2002, she continued this work at Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) as the Support Group Coordinator. Kristin then worked in child welfare and youth mentoring before returning to DAIS in 2010 as the Director of Services. In this role Kristin provided strategic oversight of the intervention and prevention services at DAIS, including survivor-centered program development, program evaluation, and community collaboration.
Most recently, Kristin joins NCALL from the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. As the Prevention and Early Intervention Section Manager, Kristin administered state programs and promoted systems coordination focused on strengthening families and preventing abuse.
Since 2018, Kristin has also been faculty at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she teaches a graduate course focused on integrating social work theory with practice.
Kristin holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She is a certified Advanced Practice Social Worker in the state of Wisconsin.
