We are saddened to share the news that our friend and former colleague, Linda Dawson, passed on March 14, 2021. 

Social workers often are unsung heroes, yet they play an essential role in helping people across the lifespan, from all walks of life and backgrounds, to live their lives with dignity and agency.

We join others today, on International Women’s Day, in celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. NCALL affirms our commitment to challenging the assumptions, biases, systemic oppression, and injustice that prevent all women from accessing safety, wellbeing, and success. #IWD2021

Like many, we at NCALL recently watched Netflix’s “I Care A Lot,” a thriller whose antagonist uses the guardianship system to exploit older adults and enrich herself. While we will leave movie reviewing to the experts, we can offer some insight and resources into the world of guardianships, and how they can both protect and endanger older adults.
