It’s May, which means it’s Older Americans Month (OAM)! OAM is a time to honor the contributions and impacts older Americans have on their communities, families, and the country as a whole. During the month, in honor of this year’s OAM theme, #ConnectCreateContribute, we will be sharing tips and facts on how to effectively work with older victims of crime and abuse. Starting this week, keep an eye on NCALL’s Facebook and Twitter feeds. We’ll have shareable tips and a host of resources to help bolster your and your organization’s capacity to reach and serve older victims equitably and inclusively.
This work is being done through a collaborative partnership with OVC’s National Resource Center for Reaching Victims (NRC). Since 2016, NCALL has been a partner of the NRC, a one-stop-shop where organizations and professionals can get information and resources to enhance their capacity to identify, reach, and serve victims of crime and abuse who lack access to healing and justice services. For more information on the NRC, and how NCALL staff can support your organization in increasing access to services for older victims, contact NCALL NRC Project Coordinator, Katie Block at kblock@ncall.us.
